Solar renewable energy certificates

Electricity has
a second kind of value.

One SREC represents the renewable attributes of 1,000 kWh of solar generation. Eligible systems register in a qualifying market, then the certificate owner can sell under market or contract terms.

Know who keeps the certificates.

Purchase agreements, leases, PPAs and grants may assign SREC rights differently. Prices, fees and future revenue are variable. SRECs are separate from net-metering credits.

Federal homeowner credit: important 2026 update

The IRS says the residential clean energy credit is unavailable for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. We do not assume a 30% homeowner credit for a new 2026 installation. Commercial credits follow separate rules.
