DC solar can generate valuable certificate income.
$372.50 / SREC
Flett Exchange’s published sell-now price for 2026-vintage DC SRECs on October 19, 2026. This is a dated market example—not a guaranteed price or fixed program payment. Brokerage terms and fees may affect proceeds.
A simple illustration
10,000 kWh of eligible generation = 10 SRECs. At the dated $372.50 example price, that is $3,725 gross, before fees. Actual production and selling prices vary; this is not a yearly income guarantee.
How DC SRECs work.
Certification required
Generate & certify
1 SREC / 1,000 kWh
An eligible, certified solar system earns certificates based on recorded production. DCPSC certification and registration in the relevant tracking system are required.
Review your agreement
Keep or assign the rights
Your contract determines who owns the certificates. Buying, leasing, PPAs and program-sponsored systems can have different SREC ownership terms.
Market value varies
Sell into the market
Owners may sell through a broker or aggregator under spot or contract terms. Future prices can rise or fall. The solar alternative compliance payment is a supplier compliance fee, not a guaranteed owner payout.
Confirm current eligibility with DCPSC. We do not assume a new Maryland or Virginia installation can qualify for the DC market.
